A little bit country: Jenny Packham 2017 bridal preview

A little bit country: Jenny Packham 2017 bridal preview
The Jenny Packham 2017 preview in New York conjured up a romantic Midwestern vibe – complete with hay bales and rustic decor

With gowns called Dolly, Dallas and Nashville in the mix, Jenny Packham’s 2017 bridal collection – which has just previewed in New York – is inspired by the rolling plains of the Midwest. It gives us romance with a hint of good ol’ country style – and we say yee-haw! to that

Jenny Packham has gone up country for her 2017 bridal range, which has just previewed at New York Bridal Week. While not quite Annie Get Your Gown, there is a distinctly retro and Midwestern vibe to this beautiful new collection, with names such as Dolly, Nashville and Jolene in the mix.

Said to be inspired by the afterglow of a wild night, the collection previewed at an intimate barn dance-themed event – replete with guitar, haybales and rustic decor. The collection itself has all the luxe and glamorous credentials that are hallmarks of Jenny Packham bridal and is part of a new romantic mood spotted among top bridal designers recently. Flattering and fluid shapes, with focus on arms, shoulders and neckline are key features, along with unusual textures and sweetly retro detailing. All these elements are in this new collection, so we think Jenny Packham’s bridal vision is a pretty good herald of a new romantic spirit that will be sweeping through the White Gallery London bridal preview in May.

As you’d expect, Jenny Packham puts her distinctive and glamorous spin on this new spirit of romance. The 2017 palette includes soft petal pink, barley and an unusual pale celadon green. Her signature form-enhancing shapes are in the mix, with flattering details such as crystal illusion bodices, plunge necklines and ethereal transparent sleeves. There is lots of gorgeous embellishment, including star, wild flower and foliage designs.

Jolene features fabulous star spangled embellishments across the gown, including two super-sized stars that add a celestial curve to the waistline

What we like most about this collection is the nod to the most glamorous 1970s eveningwear, with standout pieces including the Eddie gown. With its plunge neckline and fabulous full sleeves that turn shoulders and arms into a focal point, it has an ethereal-meets-sexy quality that would be equally at home at a grand festival-themed wedding or laidback beach-bar celebration.

Special mention also for the sweet and sexy Dolly, with its fabulous sparkly beading and clever caplet effect around the neck and shoulders. Just like its legendary singing namesake, Dolly is a gown with classic style credentials and plenty of star quality.
