Runway trends are always a great way to find out what brides will be wearing for the seasons to come and the current crop of designer gowns offer looks for every style of celebration – from ballroom to beach. Here are six runway looks we love for their offering high style down the aisle.
1. Frosted bride – The Atelier Couture
Metallics are one of the strongest trends in bridal and this shimmering silver gown from The Atelier Couture makes a flattering alternative to white. Featuring an unusual halter-effect neckline and plunge front, it has a diamond pattern on the full skirt with frill hem. theateliercouture.com
2. Floral twist – Beba’s
We’re big fans of Beba’s alternative approach to wedding-day dressing and this ensemble is a classic example. The simple slimline gown with low back is paired with a translucent layer in a delectable café crème shade. Attached to the gown at the shoulders to create a cap-sleeve effect at the front, it creates a floaty floral train at the back of the gown. bebascloset.com
3. Puff ball – Sophie et Voilà
Finding the perfect short number to make an entrance is never easy, but this wedding mini from Bilbao bridal label Sophie et Voilà has glamour to spare. Featuring an on-trend round neckline, it has oversized puffed sleeves tapering to simple tie cuffs. While the silhouette is strong, the lavish double layered silk with translucent sleeves and hemline keeps the effect light and romantic. sophieetvoila.com
4. Boho formal – Marylise
Combining fine graphic lace and formal structure, this romantic gown by Marylise has a lightness of touch that is perfect for a modern-boho bride. We love the plunge front, elegant long sleeves and lace panel to define the waist. There’s a low back and the flowing chiffon overskirt adds drama down the aisle. marylisebridal.com
5. Bold line – Isabel Sanchis
Valencia designer Isabel Sanchis is known for strong architectural lines and this sheath gown is the ultimate style-statement wedding gown for a destination bride. With a halter-effect neckline and angled off-the-shoulder cut, it has a dramatic cape effect sleeve. The gold brooch is the only detail in a pure white dress. isabelsanchis.com
6. Top tiers – Yolancris
Ballgowns are big news in 2020 but this season they have a bold and edgy twist. Yolancris gave us one of our favourite fun gowns at Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week. It combines a fitted v-neck bodice with a dramatic tiered and feathered full skirt that is perfect for the bride who wants to take centre stage. yolancris.com
