Daalarna is one of the most exciting labels around. Hallmarks include luscious embroidery, fine tulle, elegant silhouettes and pops of iridescence and colour – perfect ingredients for adding drama to a modern bridal ensemble
Daalarna is a Budapest label that ticks all boxes for both impeccable craft and an edge of drama – perfect ingredients for the modern bride. The label is not new – having been established in 2002 – but founding designer Anita Benes continues to bring a freshness to bridal that feels perfectly on trend.
The defining hallmarks are the exquisite use of laces, with lavish fabrics such as tulle in the mix alongside glamorous dashes of colour and iridescence. Fabrics are sourced from Italy, France and England and the studio in Budapest uses couture processes.
Beyond the classic bridal fabrics, you’ll also see gorgeous 3D embellishment such as flowers – in tune with the current trend for all things botanic – and form flattering cuts with bold elements such as feature sleeves and cuffs, plunge necklines and split skirts.
While many of the designs may appear floaty and ethereal, there’s some very clever behind-the-scenes corsetry at work. All gowns are made to order and the corsets are tailored to enhance the shape of the wearer. The bespoke nature of what Daalarna does means brides have lots of bespoke options – for instance, opting for a different skirt or choosing to alter fabric or colour.
With stockists across Europe and an impossibly glamorous occasionwear label also in the mix, Daalarna should be on every bride-to-be’s hitlist of designers to check out. Alongside the HQ in the Hungarian capital, there are retail stockists across Europe and North America, as well as a presence in the Far East and Australia. Below we show highlights of the Rebelle collection. Dalaarna’s forthcoming Folk collection will be on tour via a series of trunk shows in early 2020. These include a trunk show at The Wedding Club’s South Kensington branch from 2-12 January.
