Hampton Court Palace was dressed in grand style at its annual wedding showcase. Designed to inspire the imagination and demonstrate the versatility of its internal and external spaces, this winter-wonderland setting was a feast for the senses.
Guests were welcomed through the West Gate of the Tudor palace, which opens onto the historic Base Court. This unique space is perfect for alfresco drinks or entertainment and LED Drummers and Light Walkers on stilts provided by Sternberg Clarke wowed guests.
From this magical welcome, it was on to the Cartoon Gallery for a drinks reception of signature cocktails and themed canapés created by event caterer Rhubarb. Then guests were led on into the Great Hall, with its fabulous hammer-beamed ceiling, for the wedding feast, which was also created by Rhubarb. Before dinner commenced, guests were treated to a surprise live performance from the Minstrels Gallery
The glamorous mirrored tables from Great Hire were dressed with glorious greenery by Lavender Green Flowers with elegant winter-themed menus created by Grosvenor Stationery. After dinner, guests were guided to another of Hampton Court Palace’s sumptuous venue spaces – The Undercroft – once Henry VIII’s beer cellar. This made a fabulously atmospheric setting for post-dinner drinks and delicious puddings, as guests were entertained with music from Organic Jam.
Every wedding party needs a show-stopping cake, and the spectacular created by artisan cake designer, Yevnig was the perfect finale. Named ‘Imperial Magnificence’, it consisted of six tiers inspired by the unique features of each palace within the Historic Royal Palaces collection. Decorations included cherubs from the Ante-Chapel at Hampton Court Palace, the balcony of Banqueting House and the Imperial State Crown, which is kept at the Tower of London.
Jo Jennings, events manager at Hampton Court Palace, says of the showcase event: “It was a great opportunity for us to highlight the many spaces we have on offer for memorable wedding celebrations.”
