Weddings in winter have a magical quality, especially when you factor in twinkling lights and roaring log fires. Photo: Phil and Hannah's wedding at Holkham Hall by Lifelong Photography

Summer has its charms, but a wedding on a cold and frosty day with twinkling lights, berry-decorated trees and roaring fires brings a special kind of romance, as these wonderful winter wedding photos by some of our most talented photographers prove

Winter is a time of celebrations, so little wonder that so many couples are now choosing this as their perfect season to get married. While shorter days mean careful planning, compensations include crisp weather, along with log fires, festive greenery, mulled wine and beautiful starry nights. And with spring just around the corner, there’s an undeniable spirit of hope and new beginnings in the air – what could be more romantic than that?
