One of Scotland’s finest resort hotels, Trump Turnberry now has an elegant new ballroom – the perfect spot for a wedding celebration with classic style credentials and stunning views
Trump Turnberry has long been known as an exclusive golf retreat. Set on the south-west Scottish coast in Ayrshire, overlooking the world-famous championship links and Ailsa Craig, the five-star resort now has a fabulous ballroom that makes the perfect venue for elegant wedding celebrations.
With a 500-seat capacity, the new Donald J. Trump ballroom features floor-to-ceiling windows with exceptional views. With its neutral light-filled decor and lavish crystal chandeliers, the ballroom can be decorated in your wedding colours and transformed from daytime party setting to glamorous evening event space.
Weddings feature bespoke menus created by the resort’s talented in-house chefs and, from canapés to a five-course wedding feast there’s scope to create something very special – locally caught seafood is a speciality here and the surrounding countryside is famous for its farm produce. You will find a dedicated team on site to help plan your day. And, of course, the hotel has fantastic rooms and a destination spa if you want to stay over to begin your honeymoon in style. You can even book the entire resort for you and your guests.
A famous golf destination
Trump Turnberry is ‘hallowed ground’ among the world’s golfers. The first links was commissioned by the Marquess of Ailsa and designed by golf course architect and Open winner Willie Fernie. The hotel was added in 1906. The site played an important role in both world wars as a military airbase, with the hotel also becoming a hospital for a time. Restored in the 1950s and opened as a seaside resort hotel, Turnberry soon became internationally known as one of the great destinations in Scotland – both for its exceptional golf and views to Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran.
The Ailsa course, redesigned by architect Mackenzie Ross, has hosted multiple international championships, including the Open on four occasions. There is a further championship golf course and a nine-hole course, both with similarly splendid views to the sea.
Luxury facilities at Trump Turnberry
Combining Edwardian elegance with contemporary luxury, Trump Turnberry offers facilities for weddings large and small. Accommodation includes glamorous sea-view rooms and suites that are the perfect start to a romantic honeymoon. While the golfing opportunities are plentiful, the spa is also a draw. With awe-inspiring views over the Irish Sea from the infinity pool, you will also find a series of pampering treatments for bride and groom.
The resort is set in 800 acres of pristine countryside, so there are endless opportunities to explore the scenery in this glorious corner of Scotland, whether on foot, by 4×4 or on horseback. Sporting pursuits on offer here include clay pigeon shooting, archery and quad safari. The concierge team can also recommend and organise trips to some of the region’s treasures, from Arran to Culzean Castle to Royal Troon.
Location and wedding planning
Trump Turnberry is located just over 15 miles from the historic county town of Ayr. Glasgow Airport (Prestwick) is just over an hour away, while Edinburgh to the south is two-hours’ drive. Weddings here are planned on an entirely bespoke basis, and the team can organise everything from intimate gatherings to the grandest party for 500. In addition to the new Donald J. Trump Ballroom, there are multiple other event spaces, all offering fine decor and views. Find out more about weddings at Trump Turnberry at turnberryweddings.co.uk
