Ramla Khan founded The Enchanting Cake Company to pursue her passion for creating delectable sweet things. And whether your taste is a fairytale wedding-day cake table or delicious little cupakes and favours, her wish is your command
Ramla Khan followed her dream when she turned her talent for baking into The Enchanting Cake Company. A passionate amateur baker since her childhood, she pursued the eminently sensible career of dentistry. But the baking bug just wouldn’t go away and she carried on creating beautiful confections and enrolled in cake decoration classes while still working as a dentist.
Ramla was awarded runner-up slot in best amateur baker competition at the Cake & Bake Show in 2012. This – along with the encouragement of family and friends – inspired her to take things further. The following year, she entered a cake in the professional category at the same show and this time she won first place, also earning herself a coveted slot in Delicious magazine. It was a fairytale beginning to The Enchanting Cake Company.
Today The Enchanting Cake Company specialises in bespoke cakes and confections for weddings and other special events. Ramla Khan’s skill at creating delicious cakes is matched by her finesse with cake decoration. Indeed, she has published two books on creative cake making and decorating, with practical ‘how to’ information to inspire other bakers. The books have found a worldwide audience, with Chocolate Modelling Cake Toppers earning a place in the top ten bestselling chocolate books in the US.
How Ramla Khan creates her cakes
The Enchanting Cake Company specialises in truly bespoke cakes and dessert tables that become the centrepiece of your wedding. The flavour options are mouthwatering, including dulce de leche, lemon drizzle, Tahitian vanilla bean, cardamom and rose and masala chai tea.
While the internal components of the cakes have to be spot on, and are developed using the finest ingredients, the creativity of Ramla’s decoration is often a process of co-creation with bride and groom. While Ramla herself is inspired by everything from nature and films to wallpaper designs, she offers a very bespoke service and couples are encouraged to bring along their ideas for the look they envisage. Ramla can also work with other suppliers, such as florist, venue and stationer, to ensure the cake or cake table is perfectly on theme with your wedding colours and style of event.
Ramla can also advise on how to cater for your crowd – be it large or small. For instance, if you have a very large wedding, The Enchanting Cake Company can supply your showstopping centrepiece cake or cake and cookie table and then provide additional iced ‘cutting cakes’, that are ready to plate and serve so everybody gets a generous slice of sweet heaven.
