Expert answer: Le Maitre Events on how to include fireworks at your wedding
Pyrotechnics can be used to create spectacular events indoors and out – even dramatic tablesettings can be incorporated, say Le Maitre Events

Absolutely Weddings’ experts answer your wedding planning questions. Here, Karen Cornaccchia, joint managing director of pyrotechnic specialists Le Maitre Events, suggests ways to use wedding fireworks and other special effects to set the scene at your celebration

Q: We want something spectacular to mark the move between the formal bits of our wedding and the informal/celebration part. We are not sure what is possible, especially as much of the wedding takes place indoors. What would you recommend?

A: Pyrotechnics act as a spectacular visual marker to show that the day’s celebrations are moving on, and you also add the wow factor to your wedding celebration. You will also find that there are options suitable for indoors as well as outside.

To make an impression as you arrive at your reception, you could opt for sparkling gerbs (similar to giant sparklers) or line your path with flame projectors. If you place flame projectors around the dance floor, you are guaranteed to make that first dance feel magical. Low smoke can also be used to add romance to the dance floor.

Like many other special effects, gerbs can be safely used indoors and are a great way to mark a highlight of the wedding, such as the first dance or cutting of the cake

Confetti cannons make stunning visual cues to mark the cutting of the cake or conclusion of the speeches. Or, if you want all your guests to feel close to the action, you can even incorporate pyrotechnics into table centrepieces. Ice fountains can be easily concealed in floral arrangements, sparking into life at a given moment. Similarly, confetti or streamer cartridges can (all completely safely) burst into life and cover guests simultaneously!
