Dramatic swags and rich colours and textures set the scene for a feast

Flowers are an opportunity to stamp a truly individual identity onto your wedding, as this creative wedding dressing by Wild at Heart shows. Here, late season bounty was combined with rich textures to set the scene for a Harvest-style celebration

Dressing your venue can be one of the hardest decisions, especially if you want to do something different or you are working ‘out of season’ when the classic spring and summer flowers may not feel quite so appropriate to your day or the colours of the landscape around you. Often the best way is to base your scheme around what you have in abundance, drawing on the riches of the season and then introducing accents.

Mixing rich colours and adding light and shade effects can be spectacularly effective, as this spectacular autumnal setting created by Nikki Tibbles and the team at Wild at Heart shows.

Fire and ice

This inspired tablesetting created by Nikki Tibbles and the team at Wild at Heart uses late-season bounty to create a rich and textured effect. Pale roses – always appropriate and also flowering well into early autumn – are mixed in here with fiery dahlias, a late summer and autumn showstopper. The whole effect of mixing tonal shades from pale to burnished red, gold and almost black is stunning. The use of rose hips is a beautiful addition to the arrangement.

High drama

The same colourscheme is picked up on a grander scale for a dramatic focal point urn arrangement. Raised high above the tables it sets the scene for autumn and looks wonderful lit from below by candles in burnished gold vessels.

Autumn riches

The grand finishing touch is a trailing arrangement of hops placed above the tables. Here the same warm reds and burgundies hold sway. Using foliage, alongside flowers, is a creative way to introduce a sense of the outdoors, whatever the weather outside. Lit from below by more gold tealights, this is the perfect setting for a wedding feast.
